On 19 December, the Attorney General issued a statement declaring the end of the Tripoli Criminal Court’s trial of 33 individuals accused of being former members of the Islamic State (IS). The defendants stood accused of conducting armed attacks in Sabratha, destroying property, and contributing to the deaths of 53 people. According to the statement, all defendants were found guilty, with 17 defendants sentenced to death, two to life in prison, and 14 to other prison terms. The statement did not specify when these sentences would be carried out.
