This week the presence of foreign fighters in Libya came to the fore with the issue addressed by both the 5+5 Joint Military Commission (JMC) and at a GNU-Turkish press conference.
On 29 April, the fourth round of 5+5 JMC talks concluded in Sirte after five days, with the participation of President of the Presidential Council Mohamed Menfi and the Head of the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) Jan Kubis. The JMC issued a statement urging UN member states to withdraw all foreign forces and mercenaries from Libya.
On 3 May, a high-level Turkish delegation was received in Tripoli by the GNU Prime Minister Abdul Hameed Dabaiba to discuss strengthening the relations between the two countries. In a joint press conference between Libyan Minister of Foreign Affairs Najla Mangoush and her Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu, Mangoush called on Turkey to withdraw all foreign forces and mercenaries from Libya in line with the October ceasefire agreement.
