On 28 November, the spokesman of the Libyan National Army (LNA) Ahmed al-Mismari announced that the LNA military had conducted a ‘sophisticated operation’ against al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), detaining at least seven of its members. Mismari said the detainees were from different countries, and that the operation was part of a larger effort to crack down on terrorist cells in the country. Mismari stated that the LNA’s 116 and Tariq bin Zayed units had led the operation. Libya al-Ahrar TV also reported that LNA forces had killed one woman and injured a girl during the operation.
