18 Apr – 24 Apr: LNA conduct airstrikes near Bani Walid

On 21 April, the Libyan National Army (LNA) said its jets conducted three airstrikes against a location near Bani Walid where they claimed militias positioned to attack the Oil Crescent were based. The strike reportedly killed 3 and injured 6 Petroleum Facilities Guard fighters formerly led by Ibrahim Jadhran.

On 22 April, clashes broke out between police members affiliated with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and LNA-Special Forces fighters, the al-Zawiya Martyrs’ Brigade, in Benghazi killing one CID officer and injuring three others.

On 20 April, an LNA reconnaissance desert unit and 116th Infantry Battalion arrested two militants in a Toyota Hinux transporting a large quantity of mortars (120mm), mines (AT) and ammunitions near Tamanhint airport, in southern Libya.

On 19 April, it is alleged that a Tajoura-based militia fired mortar shells upon Mitiga International Airport located in Tripoli’s eastern suburb of Tajoura at 2 am. The following day more artillery shells were fired upon the airport, damaging its arrivals section and an Airbus A320 belonging to the state-owned Libyan Airlines. No injuries were reported. What initiated the incident remains unclear. Despite the incident the director of the airport, Lufti al-Tabib, stated on 21 April that the airport remains open.
