On 18 February at 11am local time, Libyan National Army (LNA) forces allegedly shelled Tripoli port. A warehouse was damaged. The LNA spokesperson, Ahmed al-Mesmari, claimed that it had “destroyed a Turkish ship loaded with weapons and ammunition that docked at Libya port of Tripoli.” The attack coincided both with the UN-mediated 5 + 5 Joint Military Committee discussions resuming in Geneva the same day, and with the head of the LNA, Khalifa Haftar, meeting with the US ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland, in Rajma during which he stated his commitment to a permanent ceasefire.
