Jul 16, 2019 | ISIS

On 11 July, ISIS released its al-Naba newsletter no 190, which featured a eulogy for Abu Assem al Sudani (aka Mohamed Bin Ahmed al-Falata). The Sudanese national was allegedly one of the ISIS Libya’s media officers and was killed fighting against LNA force in southern Libya. He is thought to have documented the groups June 2018 attack on the Qanan Police Station, close to Ajdabiya.

On 9 July, the commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA)-aligned Petroleum Facilities Guard (PFG), Major General Naji al-Maghrabi, denied reports that there was an attack at the gate of Zilla oilfield. This follows initial claims that ISIS had undertaken the attack, killing five people, kidnapping another four, and leaving three ISIS members dead, including alleged leader, Ahmed bin Nasser. However, ISIS has not claimed the attack.

On 9 July, the Shahat CID arrested a suspected ISIS member, Ayoub Salah Abdul Aziz al-Alsoinai. The CID claims al-Alsoinai confessed to murdering several military and police officers.
