On 5 May, UNSMIL called for a week-long humanitarian truce to start on 6 May at 4:00am (local time), coinciding with the beginning of Ramadan. In a statement, UNSMIL called upon “all parties to deliver humanitarian aid to those in need and to ensure the freedom of movement for civilians during this truce.” Neither the LNA nor the Government of National Accord (GNA) responded to the UNSMIL’s request.
